St Moritz in Switzerland is an attractive Alpine resort consisting of two villages - St. Moritz Dorf and St. Moritz Bad which are separated by a mill of lake shore.

St. Moritz Dorf & St. Moritz Bad

St. Moritz Dorf is built on hills that rise from the Northern side of Lej San Murezzan. Here you can find grand hotels, upscale shops, remains of Engadine Architecture and Urban amenities. The railroad station is at the base of the hill. From the east end of the village both the bobsled run and the Cresta Run plunge toward neighboring Celerina.

St. Moritz Bad sprawls are at the lake's south west corner in the valley floor. It is modern with 19th century buildings amongst the apartment blocks and villas. In Bad, there are cross-country ski centers, public swimming pool and an ice stadium. The spa section offers mineral baths, mud baths and spa therapies. The nightlife in St. Moritz is famous for the most energetic as well as pubs as compared to the other Alpine Ski resorts.

The wide and glorious landscape surrounding St. Moritz are spectacular and understandably popular for walking. The streets in the town itself are more likened to the shops found in the fashion capitals of the world rather than the typical Swiss villages. This explains the fact that the average person is St. Moritz will normally be seens wearing designer clothes and jewelry!

Hotels and Accommodation.

There are 44 traditional hotels in St. Moritz with over 5,500 beds, as well as 7500 self catering bed spaces in holiday apartments. Most of the accommodation available caters for the more luxurious market being in the 4 or 5 star classification.

The pool and spa at Badrutt's Palace is well worth a visit, as the pool has no walls and only windows so that the people can swim with all the mountains and lakes as a background. At night, there is only one place to go which is 'The Kings' night club at Badrutt's Palace Hotel.

Attractions in St. Moritz.

Visitors are offered Olympic Ski Pists, bob-sleigh runs, Cresta runs, horse racing, greyhound races, Councourse hippique, Gourmet festival, snow and symphony, cricket and polo tournaments and also winter golf, curling and the Ski marathon.

In summer, the visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, inline skating, windsurfing, sailing, tennis and riding. Other activities such as golf, skating, river rafting and the Inn are there. All these sports oriented activities can be enjoyed within 40 minutes driving time of St. Moritz. The main attraction is the harmony of the Upper Engadine landscape with its 25 mountain lakes, the famous 'Champagne climate' and intensive sunshine. The health spa and Swiss National Park are also worth mentioning.

During daytime, the visitors can ski which is the main activity that St. Moritz is known for. However, if you are not too interested in skiing, you can mingle at the non-stop outdoor party by the heated outdoor bar in front of the Hauser Restaurant. If you are in a relaxing mood, there are more than 25 beauty institutes and day spas in addition to spas in each hotel.
